The Shoe Heather Wanted to Buy!

This shoe color would be a cool background for a painting. Hmmm?

Jack Fischer Gallery Inaugural Party

Got a babysitter on Wednesday so Heather and I escaped to SF to attend Jack's party at the gallery. Just had a flash of Jack Black in Nacho Libre when he was singing at the party playing a bass. Had a great time talking to other artist. Also met Yo, owner of Pablo Gallery in the Philippines who was with artists Arvin Flores and Carlo Ricafort. Nice connection. It was pretty packed. This photo was taken as it was winding down.

This is my painting at Jacks called RSB or Road Side Bomb.

The Sword of Damocles and Chingonitza

Finally finished this painting. Heather keeps calling it the "Sword of Damocles" because of the blade shape so I decided to use it as the title, even though the painting isn't based on the story. However, I could easily create a story around it since it's ripe with metaphors...NOT!

This is a small 9" x 12" painting with some low riding calaveras.

Getting the TOY!

This Saturday we went to Eric Schoenberg's guitar shop in Tiberon to get a new toy... since I sold some paintings at the SFMOMA Artists Gallery Warehouse Sale this past week. The Giliano Grand Concert (Stella) was made by Oscar Schmidt in the 1920's. The body is dark Hawaiian koa. It also has some cool gold glitter perfling and a Mother-of-Toilet-Seat fretboard, headstock and pickguard. This is one kick ass delta blues guitar. It definitely has it's battle scars, but hasn't lost it's voice. Eric repaired all the cracks and set it up. Great slide guitar too. I'm surprised how loud it is. Thanks Heather!

Later we went see Jenifer Wofford to buy some art and see her before leaving for the Czech-Republic. Almost bought her tiki table setting! Good luck Jenifer!

SFMOMA Artists Gallery Warehouse Sale

Went to the Warehouse Sale Preview which is the first day of the buying frenzy to get art on the cheap. Lots of good stuff at reasonable prices. Here are a few shots of the hysteria along with a video.

Heather and I were in the side room where they stored the purchased art and saw a couple of my paintings in there including "Kultural Gem." While we were in there Steven and Rachel came by to pick it up. A very nice couple with a fun painting. Glad it found a home. Thanks guys, you help me get my 1920 Oscar Schmidt Stella guitar! Goin to get it on Saturday in Tiberon. Yah Baby!

Painting in Progress

I think this one is looking really good right now. Not sure if I'm done though.

Jack Fischer Gallery

Jack Fischer has been interested in my work after Juan Carlos Quintana and Heather Wilcoxon mentioned my name to him. Thanks guys! As of today, May 3, 2009, Jack will be representing me out of his gallery in San Francisco. I'm looking forward to working with him and his other artists. I have a piece in the inaugural exhibition at his new space at 49 Geary, right around the corner from his old space. Stay tuned. Better yet, go visit his gallery.

Another photo for Coco's Art Folks Page.

SFMOMA Artists Gallery Warehouse Sale

Well Heather took my 16 pieces to Fort Mason for the Warehouse Sale so we'll see if I sell enough work to get this toy at Eric Schoenberg's in Tiberon. Drool!!!

A 1920's Oscar Schmidt Stella. A totally cool-ultra-blues-guitar! Ok, back to the Warehouse Sale. Here are some shots of the work and a couple with Maria Medua and Renee de Cossio. I told Heather to let them pick out a piece before they went to slaughter. The viewing is on Wednesday so Heather and I plan on going. Should be mad fun! Get a t-shirt at CafePress!!
